For over 125 years, the imposing steam locomotive has been winding on the tracks of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways through the mystical forests of the Harz landscape.
A real attraction for visitors of all ages is a ride on the Brockenbahn railway from Wernigerode to the summit of the highest mountain in Northern Germany - the Brocken.
If you also want to enjoy nature, get off at the Schierke train station and take a two-hour hike to the summit across the National Park. On the Brocken there are enough opportunities for a refreshment. The Brockenbahn takes you directly from the Brocken station back to the Westerntor station in Wernigerode, which is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
