Wernigerode - a colorful town in the Harz – it lies at the foot of the Brocken surrounded by the wonderful Harz landscapes. The place is full of sights and the colorful town center, with its impressive half-timbered houses, invites you to stroll and shop.
High above the town towers the Wernigerode fairytale castle. Originally built as a castle in the 12th century, the castle was rebuilt in the 18th century by the young Count Christian Ernst of Stolberg-Wernigerode and turned into a Baroque palace.
The castle is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel and we recommend a walk up the Schlossberg hill with a subsequent visit to the castle.
For over 125 years, the imposing steam locomotive has been winding on the tracks of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways through the mystical forests of the Harz landscape. A real attraction for visitors of all ages is a ride on the Brockenbahn railway from Wernigerode to the summit of the highest mountain in Northern Germany - the Brocken.
A trip to the Bode Gorge (Bodetal) really has something for everyone. The Bode Gorge in Thale is about 20 minutes by car from the hotel. The trip is always worthwhile if you travel with your family. Right at the entrance to the Bode Gorge there is a true playground paradise for children with a climbing wall, a mini roller coaster, adventure playgrounds and a mini golf course.
Worth a visit are the wonderful Baroque castle gardens and the castle ensemble of Blankenburg. It is about a 15-minute drive from Wernigerode and is a wonderful destination from spring to autumn. The unique ensemble consisting of the small castle, the castle gardens and the large castle invites you to stroll and relax.
In the midst of the Rappbodetal valley and spanning the Bode reservoir is the "Titan-RT" a pedestrian suspension bridge with its incredible 458.5 meters of total length. The steel structure is a tourist attraction of the Harz and a breathtaking trip destination for the whole family.
